WHO WE ARE:

St. Vincent de Paul at St. Joseph’s Church was established in January, 1959 under the leadership of John Peacock.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. We service the less fortunate regardless of their age, race, creed, color, sex, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, and marital status.

WHAT WE DO:

With the grace of God and generous support from our parishioners and others, we provide monthly assistance to more than 800 people in our neighborhood. We realize that our help is only temporary but our hope is to help them buy time to stand on their own feet and change their life for the better.

Our ministry offers a wide range of services to those in need:
  • Pantry service of non-perishable food, as well as meat, bread, and pastries
  • Mobile care packages – volunteers carry in their car and offer a bag to homeless people, whenever and wherever they find them
  • School supplies and new backpacks for the children of poor families, since education is a way out of poverty
  • Thanksgiving food distribution to make the holiday a little bit better for people
  • Christmas gift cards to buy gifts and food so needy families can put a smile on children’s faces
  • Friends of the Poor Walk (FOPW) to raise funds to help our neighbors
  • Rent/Utilities help to ease the burden of possible eviction or utility shutoff
Our conference is part of Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County.

Our current St. Vincent de Paul President is Barbara Fuhs. Barb has served the poor across Fremont for more than a decade.
