Helping our community during the pandemic

Like our own family life, the pandemic has called for changes in how we live and serve our community neighbors.

    • We supported meal preparation at Abode Homeless Shelter until it closed its doors.
    • We provided assistance with rent and utility payments until the city began supporting those items, but now the city is stopping those payments.
    • Donations received at funerals were reduced because funeral attendance was restricted.
    • Evictions and utility turn offs were put on hold, but now are starting up again.
    • Homeless needs continue to grow.
    • Shopping for homeless needs (food, warm socks, blankets, sleeping bags, etc.) continues to grow.
    • Many non-profits like the pantry have experienced significant reductions in donations.

Sister John Marie Pantry needs your help to maintain our ability to assist the community. As the number of people affected by the pandemic increase, so too is an increase in the funds we need to help others.

This year we have helped 72 families so far, and needs continue to grow. Here is a summary of how we provide assistance:
