Refugee Resettlement News

On September 28 half a dozen members of the Refugee Resettlement Ministry filled Rahim’s new home with beds, linens, kitchen supplies and bathroom essentials. Rahim, his wife Zolaikha, their 17 year old son, and two daughters aged 16 and 12 moved from Afghanistan to Pakistan two years ago and finally arrived in Fremont two weeks ago. Rahim was a journalist for Associated Press in Afghanistan, but is open to any job that will help them pay the rent right now. The children are all registered and awaiting appointments at Centerville Junior High and Washington High School. Please see the parish website under “Discipleship – Parish Outreach” for items we need for the shed. Your generosity always amazes us! Thank you!

Also, a quick update on Halima who started her Medical Assistant classes September 30th. She texted me at the end of her first week: “I passed the English and Math tests. We have lab today, I’m so excited about it! Thank you so much that you guys support me, I really appreciate you.” We are grateful to all those parishioners who paid her tuition, books, scrubs and medical kit. Thank you!
