Pilgrimages to the Diocesan Shrine of St. Joseph
What is a Pilgrimage? A journey or travel to a sacred place that has a a religious or spiritual significance. The purpose of a holy pilgrimage varies. People undertake journeys to a holy site in the hope of finding spiritual solace or physical healing, atonement for sins, an inner change and deeper connection with God. At the end of the pilgrimage, pilgrims hopefully will find renewal of the soul. It may be done with a group or alone.
A group pilgrimage must have a minimum count of 10 people. Payment must be received at least 2 weeks before date of arrival. Check payments are allowed but must be received at least 2 weeks prior to date of arrival. A payment link will be provided after request for a group pilgrimage has been approved.
Mission San Jose has been designated the Diocesan Shrine of St. Joseph. Many faith communities choose to make a Pilgrimage to Old Mission San Jose that includes a Mass and museum tour.
You have the choice to either attend one of our regularly scheduled Masses in the Mission Church, or your group and celebrant may hold a private Mass by pre-arrangement. To request a date for a private Mass, please complete the form below. Our Pilgrimage Coordinator will respond to confirm your arrangements and facilitate your visit. We suggest an offering of $50.
To tour the Museum and visit the Gift Shop either before or after Mass, check our Visitor Information Page to make sure you request a day we are open, and a time to accommodate all of your plans.
