Position: Gift Shop Associate (Every Other Weekend, 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM; starting mid-December)

Join our vibrant team at the Mission San Jose Museum as a Gift Shop Associate! We are looking for a warm, engaging, and customer-oriented individual to fill this every-other-weekend role. In this position, you will play a vital role in enriching the visitor experience by providing outstanding customer service, processing transactions efficiently, restocking merchandise, and maintaining an inviting gift shop atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

• Extend a warm welcome and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Process transactions accurately utilizing the point-of-sale system.
• Perform cash register counts and reconciliations after shifts.
• Address customer inquiries and provide comprehensive information regarding products and exhibits.
• Uphold the cleanliness and organization of the gift shop.
• Aid in restocking and arranging merchandise displays and managing inventory.
• Engage in merchandising activities, including lifting boxes and maintaining cleanliness.
• Demonstrate flexibility regarding scheduling, recognizing that the retail environment is dynamic and constantly evolving.
• Experience with online scheduling tools, online sales, and electronic inventory management systems is preferred but not mandatory.
• Foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
• Maintain an efficient pace while managing multiple priorities and exercising sound judgment in time management.
• Exhibit competence in independently unlocking and securing the church and museum facilities.
• Additional duties assigned if needed.

Requirements:

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Basic math skills and cash-handling experience are essential.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
• Livescan and Safe Environment Training are required.
