Dominican FriarsPlease pray for vocations. It normally takes 8 years of formation before a Dominican friar enters full-time ministry. The first year is known as the Novitiate, which is a time for focusing on prayer life and Dominican identity. The next two years are dedicated to Philosophical studies, the pursuit of Truth and the skill to present it with clarity and charity. The fourth year is a Residency Year, where a friar lives in one of the various full-time Dominican ministry sites, ranging from Alaska to Mexico. Years 5 & 6 are a return to full-time study, focusing on Theology at our Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology. After making Solemn Vows, year 7 is a Year Abroad, spent at another Dominican House of Studies anywhere in the world, such as Argentina, England, Rome, France, or India. The final, eighth year is spent as a capstone year, either preparing for priestly ordination as a transitional deacon or preparing for full-time service as a Dominican cooperator brother. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Dominican Friars |
