We are excited to share because of your generous donations the parish has begun repairs to the exterior of the Carriage House!  

Work began on July 17 with termite tenting. The Carriage House has not been repainted or reroofed for over 30 years. There are areas of exterior dry rot and mold, and the windows and doors are in bad shape.  Some of the roof shingles peeled away last winter from wind and the exterior staircase is falling apart.  This necessary maintenance will make the building watertight and prevent water damage to the building’s interior.  Repairs will take about three months to complete.  Please observe the contractor’s safety fencing and signage and avoid parking next to the carriage house.

The estimated cost of the Carriage House’s exterior repair is $400,000.  As reported at the June 22, 2024 State of the Parish meeting, projects that are part of the 2022 Parish Master Plan are funded using repurposed donations from the former capital campaigns as they become available.  Four Master Plan projects are complete or nearing completion.  Repairing the exterior of the Carriage House marks the beginning of the fifth project in our Parish Master Plan:

1. Remodel Saint Joseph church, adding air conditioning, new restrooms, and updated interiors (completed except for air conditioning which will be finished later this year) 
2. Repair the museum’s damaged building foundation (completed) 
3. Renovate Ministry House 1 and Ministry House 2 (completed) 
4. Build a paved gathering area across St. Joseph Terrace from the church to provide space for outdoor events and additional parking (completed) 
5. Renovate the Carriage House to provide more ministry and meeting space, turning this deteriorated building into a valuable parish asset
6. Build a sports field on the vacant land we own behind the school
7. Construct a new building connecting the Mission church and the Museum to provide restrooms and enclosed gathering space for the Mission and Museum.

The Mission Museum Renewal Project is being separately funded from new donations, including purchases of prints of the “Wedding Feast of the Lamb” painting and the other giving opportunities identified in the bulletin and on the parish website.  All donations to the Museum Renewal project will be recognized on the parish’s gratitude wall under the Wedding Feast of the Lamb painting in the church.
