Matthew 25:31-46The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the UniverseIn this gospel of Matthew, Jesus, who is our King, told His disciples about the coming of His glory. That the sheep will be separated from the goats. A clear reminder that whatever we do here on earth is what’s important to inherit the Kingdom of God. On His throne, He will say to the herd of sheep, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world’ and to the goats ‘Depart from Me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’ Very harsh, right? Have you ever walked past a person in need and pretended that you didn’t see them? Vacillating whether to give or not? I did. However, every time I’m in this situation, I’m reminded by the Sin of Omission and these words go through my head like a neon-lighted billboard; ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for Me.’ Without any hesitation, I would reach into my purse and give. I don’t even think beyond how this will be spent but I know that I feel a tiny ray of light in giving. It’s not boastful but meaningful to the giver and receiver. Jesus became man, suffered, died for us to save us. He showed us the ultimate love and mercy to be a child of God. Let’s always reflect on His image so we can be a sheep among His herd. Truly, it’s not complicated if we focus on the goodness and kindness of our hearts, just like Jesus. Matthew 25:31-46 |
