City input and meetings with neighbors. Master Plan was updated, we began 2-acre land acquisition process with Dominican Sisters

Summer 2000

Preliminary assessment of first phase of project cost as $10,200,000

September 2000

Capital campaign began with target goal of $4,000,000 in pledges. The 4 million target was simply the calculation of annual offertory times a factor. Due to the size of the parish, the per capita income of the majority of families registered at St. Joseph, and the large amount of “loose change” donors it was also felt that a target of 5 million was achievable. Raising pledges of half the cost would permit construction to begin.

November 2000

Monsignor Simas and Coordinating Committee members appeared before Planning Commission on Mission San Jose Planned District (MSJPD) to voice concerns

March/April 2001

Final concerns worked out with City staff members, City Council adopts MSJPD guidelines

May 2001

Consultants were retained to prepare parcel map including civil engineer, soil engineer and biological assessment

August 2001

Application for parcel map filed with City including maps and reports from all consultants

October 2001

Planning Commission approved parcel map with concerns about creek

Today we received our GRADING and RECTORY Relocation permit OK from the City of Fremont! - Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -- Many thanks go out for the persistence and hard work by TBI construction and the Steinberg team to finally get to this point! -- This is  the first thing that must happen in order to make room for the construction of the new church on the old rectory location!
